Chef Recommends with Chef Mike Riley

Posted by chiclibrary on 2006/07/25

I would like to recommend: Roy’s Fish and Seafood-Recipes from the Pacific Rim by Roy Yamaguchi.

This book really shows what Hawaiian Cuisine can be. Roy utilizes Hawaiian Fish with Asian cooking style. It is beautiful in its presentation with many interesting ideas and shows excellent cooking in all the recipes.

The book uses many ingredients and is written for professional cooks. There is a Roy’s restaurant in Chicago not far from CHIC!

Exotic Fruit and Vegetable Research getting you down?

Posted by chiclibrary on 2006/07/13

It is time for the Exotic Fruit and Vegetable report and many students wonder where they should begin their research. When you are researching something so specific you won’t have much luck just plugging that fruit or vegetable into our online catalog as there is probably not one book written about just starfruit, or kabocha squash so you need to think of what sorts of books would have this information inside the book. A good place to begin is with a food dictionary or a vegetable encyclopedia, or another book along these lines. We have a handout at the front desk with the titles of some helpful books as well as some reliable internet sites, pick one up today – or email the library and request and electronic copy (our contact information is on the ‘about us’ page)
