Starved for Comments

garlic.jpgThe best part of blogging is when a conversation begins via comments. Anyone can comment on a post by simply clicking the “comments” or,  if you are the first to comment, the “no comments” link at the end of  each and every post.

Since the return of the CHIC LRC blog, we have had one comment. One.

So to get everyone in the commenting mood, I ask:

What is your current favorite Chicago restaurant and why?

I’ll start:

I can’t get enough of avec. I love the energy when people forced to sit next to strangers and share a table start talking about their meals with each other. Seating like this is common in other parts of the world, but we Americans are a little freaked out by sitting at table with people we don’t know. Throw some really good food into the mix and we decide that perhaps we are not strangers after all. Last Sunday, I had a spirited conversation at my table over the braised haddock.

I really enjoy Pizzeria Due. I’m addicted to Chicago style deep dish, and the atmosphere there is just amazing to me. I love sitting on the balcony upstairs and watching people walk by.

One of my favorite places in town is just down the street from my house. That’s partly why I like it so much. It’s call Four Farthings Tavern. Yes, it’s a bar but what kind of place do you think an Irish Catholic boy would love? They have the best burger in town, one that you should have before you die. They also have great steaks and chops provided by the good folks at Allen Bros. Meats, meat cutters to the stars. They are the best. It doesn’t hurt that you can sit at the bar with regulars who have been there for almost the entire 30 year history of the tavern. Look for me there, third stooll to the left.
