Posted by chiclibrary on 2008/06/16
From The Food Chain:
CHIC grad Johnetta “Ja-Ja” Martin-Smith (left) used to work in the Markham jerk joint St. Martin’s Restaurant, until the owner—her older sister—shut it down to follow her husband to London. So Johnetta set out to open her own place and found a sweet spot right under the Green Line stop at California, where she’s been running it for about two months with the help of another sister, Tonya.

Restaurant reviews 2.0: BlogSoop
Posted by chiclibrary on 2008/06/02
Last week, I was talking with students about blogging and its effect on the restaurant business. We disccovered blogsoop.com, a database of NYC restaurant reviews written by food bloggers. Turns out there are LA and San Francisco versions, too.
From the About page:
BlogSoop organizes blogger restaurant reviews – formerly scattered all over the web – into a searchable restaurant database. In doing so, we provide easy access to more in depth restaurant information than any other resource.
At BlogSoop you can search for restaurants or you can browse for restaurants. By default, restaurants are sorted by the number of blogger posts – those restaurants with the most reviews will show up highest. Users are also able to browse recently reviewed restaurants. BlogSoop is regularly updated.
