Radura Rising

Posted by chiclibrary on 2008/08/22

Take that, E. coli.

On Thursday, the federal government agreed to allow irradiation of leafy greens in an effort to prevent outbreaks of E. coli.

The international symbol for irradiated food is the radura, pictured here.  Watch for it the next time you purchase bagged spinach or iceburg lettuce.  Spinach and lettuce will be the primary targets of the new irradiation initiative.
