John and I recently took on a garden plot at the Chicago Avenue Community Garden at Cabrini-Green. The garden is one of many projects sponsored by Growing Power, founded in Milwaukee by Will Allen. Will was recently featured in the New York Times – you can read the article here.
Growing Power’s vision is “Inspiring communities to build sustainable food systems that are equitable and ecologically sound, creating a just world, one food-secure community at a time.”
The Chicago Avenue garden is located just around the corner from CHIC and is open Tuesday – Friday from 4 – 6 and Saturday from 11 -3. If you decide to visit, the Bacon/Cagle plot is #26.
